Saw Mill

In 2011 Lewis County Work Opportunities began exploring ways to increase productivity and use the resources we have more efficiently. After a great deal of consideration it was determined that if we could have use of a sawmill it would increase efficiency, cut back on waste, open new areas of work, and expand our ability to help others develop work skills.

In 2012 LCWO was lent a LT-15 WoodMizer Sawmill. It soon proved to be indespensible to our operation. With it we were able to cut costs and develop a wider range of salable products.

In 2013 LCWO was given a grant by the Ben B. Cheney Foundation to purchase a new LT-15 WoodMizer Sawmill. In November of 2013 the new mill was installed and is now up an running. With it LCWO is now able to mill logs up to 24″ in diameter and 20′ long to the standard and custom sizes as needed. It also enables us to produce lumber from hardwoods that we use to build our furniture products.

LCWO now cuts logs for its own purposes and for customers to meet their needs
